Mediation refers to a confidential third party dispute/conflict resolution process whereby an impartial third party trained in mediation skills helps those in dispute or conflict to resolve their dispute/conflict.

What is Court Annexed Mediation?

Court Annexed Mediation is mediation conducted under the umbrella of the courts. It's a form of Alternative Dispute Resolution whereby cases which are brought to court for litigation are referred to mediation for possible settlement .

Who is a mediator?

 A mediator is an independent and impartial person who has the expertise to assist disputing parties reach a negotiated settlement. His/her role is mainly to facilitate the process but does not make decisions for the parties.

Is court annexed mediation free?

 Court annexed mediation is free for the parties in dispute. When it comes to court annexed mediators, they are usually  paid by the judiciary at the rate of Ksh. 20,000/= per file upon successful of partial settlement of the dispute in question.
